Advance Directives

All Home Care personnel should be able to discuss the Agency process for informing patients and clients about Advance Directives.

This course teaches advance directives for the Colorado home care  professional. 

After completing this course:

Learners will accurately identify at least three types of advance directives through the written identification of form contents, 

Learners will correctly verbalize when the agency staff is required to present the health care decision information to clients and patients,

Learners will describe how to achieve successful survey results for being compliant with Advance Directives regulation.

Understanding the Survey Process

Originally written by Jennifer Windram, RN, BSN and former CDPHE Surveyor, it has been updated with video presentation now included.

Emergency Preparedness

Significant Federal Emergency preparedness regulations took effect November 15, 2017. The goal of this 2-hour video program with Jennifer Windram, RN, BSN and former CDPHE Surveyor is to provide the fundamentals of the Federal rules along with the rules of CO Licensure.

Identify four key emergency preparedness standards in an overall program.
Locate and review key websites constantly updated by CMS with details for implementation.
Identify waivers to other regulations and standards during emergencies.
Discuss how you will coordinate with other healthcare facilities, as well as the whole community.
Learn about your communication plan that complies with federal and state laws and loops in other area providers.
Understand the requirements and format for the HCA annual review of the overall Program.
