- Mistreatment, Abuse, Neglect, Exploitation (MANE) & Prevention (2 CEU)
Effective Regulation: 6 CCR 1011-1, Chapter 26 (effective July 1, 2025)
This course was created and maintained to ensure Administrator, Manager, and staff compliance with multiple mandatory requirements in 6 CCR 1011-1, Chapter 26 related to consumer rights, abuse prevention, mandatory reporting, investigation, documentation, and quality management. The regulation references abuse, neglect, and exploitation in multiple sections, collectively requiring initial and ongoing training, policy implementation, and documented competency. In this program, the learner will:
- Identify responsibilities of Administrator/Manager relative to abuse and neglect training
- Name symptoms of caregiver stress believed to lead to abuse or neglect
- Discuss Abuse prevention strategies needed on an ongoing basis
- Recognize signs and symptoms of abuse and neglect
- Communicate and document suspected abuse and neglect
- Appropriate Policy and Procedure creation
HCPF / HCBS MANE Compliance Statement
Abuse, Neglect & Exploitation and Prevention meets the applicable training requirements for Mistreatment, Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation (MANE) established by the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF) under 10 CCR 2505-10, §8.7000 et seq.
The course provides education on the prevention and recognition of abuse, neglect, mistreatment, and exploitation; protection of individuals receiving services; mandatory reporting responsibilities; appropriate response to suspected or alleged incidents; and the documentation and follow-up responsibilities associated with such incidents.
For agencies providing Colorado Medicaid Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS), completion of this course may be used as documentation of staff training addressing applicable MANE requirements. Agencies remain responsible for training personnel on their own policies and procedures, reporting processes, and any service-specific requirements applicable to the HCBS services they provide.
